I think it’s official: I have found my favorite Raspberry Pi case.
A few weeks ago I discovered the existence of the NESPi Raspberry Pi case from Retroflag. This case is shaped as the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). I was able to purchase it via Amazon for $25. (I have seen the price skyrocket on Amazon. Don’t spend more than $25 for the case.) You can also purchase the case on eBay or directly from the manufacturer on Alibaba (but it will have to be in quantities of at least 10).
Retroflag did an excellent job with the case. For $25 you can’t beat the price.
The Case
The case comes with:
- Machine screws
- Screw driver
- Instruction manual
The case features:
- Air ventilation (the case has a spot designated for a mini computer fan.)
- Front loading cartridge cover (flip it open to reveal a ethernet port and two USB ports)
- Working power and reset buttons (pushing either button is a hard shutdown to the Pi)
- Working red power light
The case is compatible with:
- Raspberry Pi 3 Model B
- Raspberry Pi 2 Model B
- Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+
Assembly
Installing the Raspberry Pi into the NESPi case is an easy ordeal.
Machine screws are used to screw the case top and bottom together.
NESPi Case compared to the original NES
The NESPi case captures the original look of the NES wonderfully. I dusted off my old NES to compare the two together. The scale and color are pretty accurate.
Final Thoughts
I am beyond impressed with the quality and accuracy of the NESPi case. If you can find it for $25 or less, buy it now.
